Our first year of participating in Kappa Tablescapes was a blast. Tablescapes delights Dallas annually with the best in design while raising money for literacy, pediatric health, and aid for abused and abandoned teens. For years, Stanley Korshak has had a premier table location at the event: in the bay window of Dallas Country Club’s dining room, overlooking a treed canopy of rolling greens. On an October night of blowing winds and sheeting rain we stepped into the magical candlelit preview party, where fifty Dallas designers had created tables that celebrated Southern Style. Bret, Stanley Korshak’s talented mastermind of all things glamorous and hip, had arranged a glowing group of our translucent stone pieces alongside white orchids and parrot tulips to result in one of the event’s most elegant tables. Pale oval onyx vessels with living, organic edges anchored the center of the table while carved chartreuse and olive jade turtles in various postures of turtle-like repose charmed the guests. Our almost psychedelic stone bowls and chargers, carved by hand in swirling black and white onyx, provided a bit of edgy modern glamour. The main luncheon, on Tuesday, featured a presentation by Danielle Rollins. It was a joy to be surrounded by such talented designers and an energizing experience for us to be a part of Kappa Tablescapes 2018.
