It starts with the scratch of pencil on paper and ends with the last brush of paint on metal. Claire Crowe turns ideas inspired by the natural world into sketches; adding, refining, and discarding until she has a drawing that feels compelling and fresh. Our Dallas metalworkers use their hands, heat, iron and bronze to bend and shape the concepts of Claire's two dimensional images into three dimensional fire screens and furnishings. The metalworkers then sand the objects, burnish them and polish them until they gain a luster that only hands can impart. Finally Claire adds minerals or a painted finish or leaves the creation bare.
